Obituary for Jeffrey Stevenson

Jeffrey Stevenson M.D. Husband and father Dies at 65 Dr. Jeffrey L. Stevenson, died December 22 in a cycling accident on the Pacheco Pass trail. He was 65. Jeffrey was a doctor for over 32 years in the Bay Area and served the Marin community in general practice and occupational medicine. Dr. Stevenson lived in the hills of southern Novato and is survived by his wife Charmaine, and his two sons Vincent, 22, and Kirkum 20. Jeffrey was born in Berkeley on December 16, 1953 to UC Berkeley professor emeritus Merlon Lynn Stevenson and Lois Stevenson. His siblings consist of two brothers Scott and Conrad as well as two sisters Leslie and Cybele. Jeffrey is an alumnus of UC Berkeley having received a degree in neurobiology in 1978 and obtained his medical degree from George Washington University in 1986. He is a veteran, having served in the military during the U.S. invasion of Panama. Jeffrey volunteered for the infantry and was commissioned second lieutenant for signing up under the HPSP scholarship. Over the course of his military career he traveled to Korea, Belgium, Germany and Panama. Part of his time in the military was spent racing bicycles in Europe for the Army's world championship team. By the end of his service he had achieved the rank of Captain. For Marin County, he served in Novato Community Hospital before establishing his own business with his wife in 2005 where he took on both private patients and patients from workers' compensation. Jeff was a member of the San Francisco Marin Medical Society Board of Directors and was recently re-elected to the California Medical Association House of Delegates. He was an avid cyclist and enjoyed working on old cars and motorcycles. He especially loved driving his 1966 Alfa Romeo Giulia Super. A memorial for Jeff will take place at Trek Winery in Novato on January 23.
